Yuri is my job had bad theme exploration, evangelion had the similar themes and it explored them way better. Both of them were about how we have a fake self we show the world and then we have a real self on the inside.
Yuri anime was the best in the 2000s. It stopped being good after yuru yuri (2011). Now it is 99% dogshit being rehashed from better shows, "epic" subversions of previous stories, or generic plots but with yuri (virgin road, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady). Best yuri anime was Oniisama e... Second best was Utena (if you can consider that yuri) Third best was Maria ga Miteru. Fourth best was Simoun Strawberry panic was a good parody of Maria ga Miteru, it was funny and over the top. It took everything about the show and made it more silly. It was also dramatic. Yuri is my job is 99% love triangle bullshit. Yuri is my Job had a shit A shit load of character drama was because they didn't want to talk to people about something they misunderstood. All of the conflict was either stuff that could have been resolved if they had ONE conversation or love triangle bullshit. I haven't watched geu yeoreum yet but the people on MAL said it was good. The reviewers of the anime had shit taste though since one of them said "this anime makes One Piece look like a 1/10", as if comparison to One Piece was ever a good thing. I also haven't watched Vapor Trail (or the sequels), but those might actually be good. I think they will be bad since they were made by one guy, but the story telling could still be good in them. The last one man yuri animator, director, and producer (Ishikawa Pro) was pretty bad so I don't have high hopes for a different one. It is still extremely impressive to create a feature length anime all on your own and I commend them for making yuri. The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady was more realistic than virgin road but it was so boring because 99% of the time was spent in a single castle where nobody did anything except argue with each other. Virgin Road had way more egregious plot conveniences: time travel, invincibility, the ability to heal anyone, random power ups whenever they want (due to veins of mana in the earth and being able to take mana from reeincarnated people), a main character who can (effectively) see the future, but it was still more entertaining because they were actually going places and doing shit. The dynamic between the girl who looked like chinatsu and the sword princess was fun to watch. Both of the anime had antagonists that were selfish, but Reincarnated Princess had a slightly more relatable antagonist since he had an inferiority complex. The antagonists in Virgin Road either wanted to live forever or they wanted to cause chaos just for fun. A lot of the Reincarnated Princess characters were very bland, I cannot say I liked anything about the king, or the queen. The protagonist's main squad were passable. The conservatives were 1 dimensional bigots and retards so they were boring to watch. The main characters in Reincarnated Princess had a better dynamic. I liked Virgin Road's main character's internal conflict at the start of the series but after she decided to take Akari with her everywhere it wasn't as good, Her wanting to be the one who kills Akari was pretty boring. The Virgin Road characters were more fun to watch because they had more interesting powers and the fights were more appealing. There was almost no tension in either of the anime. The Reincarnated Princess had no tension because everything was so fucking slow that there was almost nothing going on. Virgin Road had no tension because Akari was so overpowered that literally nothing could touch her, and there were a million plot conveniences baked into the story that it could go any way the author wants it to. Reincarnated princess had mind control as its plot convenience, and a more generic setting. I would say Reincarnated princess was better because there was less bullshit but both of the stories were very bad. Virgin Road could have been a passable tragic story if they killed off Akari at the moment when she is almost swallowed by a ball of cum, but they decided to derail everything instead. Making the first antagonist a selfish bitch was literally meaningless to the story and it would have been better if she genuinely wanted to kill Akari out of a sense of duty. Akari is an actual menace to the setting and it makes sense why they would want to kill her.
>>0MKPOPWF Just watched Geu Yeoreum and it's honestly pretty good. A solid 8/10 one of the best yuri cartoons I have watched. Way better than what japan is shitting out these days.
Can't find a place to watch Wasure Hoshi no Volicia english subtitled without running any javascript
>>8HK6N517 After the first release, somebody made better subtitles for Geu Yeoreum. Which is good because when I watched it there were only google translate goyslop subtitles.
