FCHAN
Hey all anyone have any ideal bout the performance of fchan? Like, is it reliable and could someone have a site with lots of boards? Every listed site only have a few boards, so its impossible to see if a site with shitloads of boards and users would work well. Oah and the pic is the closest thing I had to poop, since I am posting on poopchan lol

Hugo
I used to have a very autistic setup for generating my site, but I rewrote it on hugo and I liked using it. I spent a couple of days reading about it (it has good documentation) and messing around with it, so I will stick with it. My site still has that same boring look, but now that manipulating the layout is easier, I will try to create something that looks decent. I also spend some time surfing the web and reading other people's personal sites, so I have some ideas for how to design mine. Anyway, have you ever used hugo? What do you think of it?

Retarded idea
Is it possible to derive a private key from a public key safely if you salt it with a cryptographically random, secret salt which would form part of the private key? If it is, then you can have human-meaningful, secure, decentralised, globally unique identifiers without the need for a blockchain.

I'm being irradiated by the 5G network
The government is pushing psyops to attribute the 60GHz wavelength to modifying oxygen absorption as a strawman to be able to disprove claims, but that's not the mechanism that it kills with. It kills through producing endogenous opiates to the point of respiratory depression and people die from ischemia (a lack of oxygen). It comes and goes. There are two noticeable kinds. One causes vascular spasms resulting in a pulsation feeling across the body and I can see it in my veins. It sometimes affects muscles and causes a them to twitch or causes me to spasm while trying to sleep by contracting muscles in my back and abs. After a long time of this my chest hurts, probably from my heart struggling to keep up with the alternating cardiovascular tension. I can block this immediately in a limb by wrapping it in mylar and the spasms stop in that part of the body. The second kind seems to be endogenous opiate production and it it interferes with breathing. The mechanism seems to be through 61.22GHz endogenous opiate induced-respiratory depression and it comes with a dulled sense of pain, but not mechanosensation. The government and/or telecom companies are trying to kill me with radiation, probably because I'm White or a White Nationalist. You can verify endogenous opiate production is caused by 61.22GHz radiation, it's called electromagnetic millimeter wave induced hypoalgesia. THE GOVERNMENT IS KILLING PEOPLE WITH 5G AND THEY HAVE BEEN TARGETING ME WITH IT.

Nostr-style imageboard
The main censorship-resistance benefits of FChannel come from posts federating to other instances, not from people having choice in what instance to post on like fediverse (since everyone is anonymous and no accounts are required, one instance is just like any other). The problem is that it's not obvious which instances/boards federate with which others. If you accidentally post on a board that no one follows you are just pissing in the wind. One solution would be for everyone to use FCHAM (but that is currently nowhere to be found) or a site that hosts and updates the diagrams it generates. Or better, display a list of boards that your post will federate to in the 'create post' section. Another solution would be to make an imageboard inspired by or based on Nostr (https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nostr). Instead of instances, we would have 'relays'. Posters post to multiple relays and subscribe to multiple relays. Posts would have an ID to prevent duplicate posts from showing up in people's feeds. Like federation, this provides censorship-resistance as posts would be hosted on multiple relays. But doesn't have the problem of it not being clear where posts are going to go. What do you think of this idea?

Adaptive proof of work
Adaptive proof of work is a proof of work that adjust it's complexity. This means for most real users the proof of work is completely undetectable taking less than 100 milliseconds, and only increases in difficulty and time-delay for specific networks or regions where the Adaptive Risk Engine perceives higher risk. Adaptive proof of work can be combined with a classic Captcha, in order to mitigate spam, shilling, and bots on anonymous boards. FChan Captcha can be solved by deep learning. On the other hand, image captchas can be bought $3 per thousand. Combining adaptive proof of work, with an open-source image captcha, could be a solution against the spam problem.

What's your experience with tor?
I have my entire computer routed through TOR. And I also use the tor browser(using a bridge) as my daily browser. I have no desire to view onion sites or anything. I just like privacy in the same way I don't like people checking my emails or text messages. It's okay to know my phone number, it's okay to know my email, it's okay for my isp to know I use the internet. But it's not okay for them to track me. I don't even watch porn. I just hate being stalked. Now, how do you like/hate tor?

Hi, fedinons. Not a lot of activity. :( Anyway, what is your favourite terminal emulator right now? :D I recently switched from Konsole to Kitty. I got used to using Konsole, but it had a few annoying bugs that weren't getting fixed. I was considering urxvt, but it looked too complicated to set up (i know, i'm lazy). I'll probably check it out again eventually. Also, Kitty has a bunch of cool features that feel like they belong in the future of terminals. Like displaying images in the terminal (not through ascii, it has actual image rendering baked in). Only thing that sucks about Kitty is that I can't use it on some of my older computers because it's GPU-accelerated.

Retroshare thread. Post your certificates, I'll start. For those who don't know, Retroshare is an encrypted and private peer to peer network for chat, mail, forums, channels, boards, file sharing and more. You can set up Retroshare with I2P or Tor too, so you can hide your IP from glowniggers and their lackeys. You can also set up a friend only network with your real life friends where you all connect and share stuff with each other directly. Maybe fchan owner can bridge boards into Retroshare, that would be cool. ActivityPub support is being worked on for Retroshare afaik. Here's my certificate, I allow incoming connections from I2P and have set up outgoing connections to Tor and I2P nodes. Federation is the best way forward. >Moderation Every instance is small enough that good moderation is feasible. Scales to better moderation across the network. >Controlled by the people Anybody with a little bit of technical knowledge can spin up an instance. >Runs on the clear web You don't need to install some bullshit alt-browser to access fedi sites (unlike most decentralized networks). Most implementations have a client web server. It's normie friendly in that way. >It's future proof Fedi is just server programs and protocols like we've been doing since the beginning of the internet. Except now we have Tor, i2p, etc. for anon servers. And fedi can integrate into whatever other overlay networks come in the future. And the standard is that all fedi implementation projects remain FOSS. >It's for fun Instance-owners do it because it's fun, not because they are going to make bank or get a bunch of attention. Unlike the cryptocunts who need some other incentive. Those fuckers are high on my shit list. Their money brains have no soul. Anything I'm missing?

what is the best compression algorithm to compress a shitton of data to the smallest size possible without regard for compression/decompression speed? i have a stash of random junk that i dont feel like rummaging through any time in the near future but that is taking too much space i looked around and xz seems to be the one, but maybe there is something better?

i got my hands on a super old computer so i wanted to host a website and some other servers on it, but my dad didn't want to give me the admin password of the router for me to open its ports because he was afraid h4xx0rs would try to hack the entire home network then i instead created a hidden service so now it is the glowies who will hack our home network but seriously, what are the chances of my getting v& for shitposting essays on why satania is the best waifu and if you disagree you objectively have shit taste? are there any weebs among the alphabet soups that will come after me out of spite? also post opsec tips, i have no idea what i am doing here

All AMD Processors Since Phenom II Have BadBIOS Circuitry That Leaks to the Military
Title gives my conclusion from empirical events I witnessed and inside info. PSP runs on the same circuit, but isn't the backdoor per se, which has been around for much longer. Just like AMD was able to change the crypto algorithms for the Zen chip they licensed to China, they can change how the CPU behaves at any system, even those already deployed. This can be used to sabotage any program or computation, making BadBIOS (uses radio, not sound) vastly nastier than StuxNet. American military made a grave mistake by giving access to the morons of the Brazilian military, who are letting knowledge of this spread like a fire (and misusing it for petty profit and inside jobs to justify a police state). Israel, UK and France also have access, but are much more professional.

Can we get a thread about objective OS comparisons going? Windows: >90% of games have native support >most enterprise software, media production, and general applications are made for windows >Low customization >Tracks everything you do >W11 looks like shit >System locks down a lot of things GNU/Linux: >total customization >FLOSS galore >full system control >not all distros are well documented >community can be pretty cringe >a lot of things that Just Werk on Windows and Mac OS need considerable effort to get right >generally faster speeds >no viruses :) Mac OS: >media production tools are highly used and super powerful >extremely locked down both in terms of software AND hardware >horrible community and image >far more limited than the other too in terms of software availability >highest level of proprietary >iToddlers BTFO Anything else? am i wrong on some stuff?

CSS / Javascript for Fchan thread!
I'm going to be writing some CSS later for this software. I'll post it ITT and make some PR's on github. It's really barebones ATM and it looks like the author is trying to copy the classic 4chan theme. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but having a good looking website is important to users. I appreciate you writing the backend for this BTW. It's hard work writing imageboard software, and we really needed a replacement for NNTPchan.

dreamtime
I downloaded dreamtime on a spare computer to see if the nudification is worth anything, notice it uses a built-in ipfs/torrent backup to distribute data models. there are obvious upsides to this, but what (if any) are the downsides? Let's avoid "hard disk fragmentation" and focus on actual vulnerabilities.

reminder that tor, zeronet and similar alternatives are the only legit option. bittorrent is decentralised and yet LE and ISPs have done a fine job screwing people for using bittorrent when it comes to stuff they genuinely see as a threat (no one cares about copyrighted music or movies, retard). you will never be able to have a clearnet equivalent to 8/pol/ anymore, decentralised or not.

Dark Mode: A Return to Tradition
Who else is looking forward to everything finally having dark mode? Computers were originally always in dark mode, i.e. white or green text on a black background. "Light mode" was a great folly where people wanted stuff on their computer to look like the printed page. It makes no sense when you think about it, why would you have the entire screen light up except for the text? It would be like printing out a page covered entirely in ink, except for where the words are meant to be. I for one long for the day when every browser renders an HTML page with no CSS as white text on a black background.
